2022 Wallis Pinot Noir

2022 Wallis Pinot Noir

2022 Wallis Pinot Noir

During vintage and production, this Pinot Noir showed great potential to be amongst the very best produced from the Wallis vineyard. Dark red cherry, plum, violet and bursts of blackcurrant are lifted by the silky firm tannins that surround. A classic iron fist in velvet glove type wine, a contradiction of both great intensity and finesse.

Other Notes
The 2022 season started with a very wet and variable spring before and during flowering, resulting in small bunches and reduced yields across most sites. However, the exceptional summer and autumn months that followed provided perfect ripening conditions that generated great concentration and striking flavours across all varieties.

Winemaking
Winemaker Notes
Handpicked as individual blocks and sorted separately. The MV6 parcel was processed to a concrete tank while the 115 parcel remained in stainless steel. Both parcels were cold soaked for 5 days at 8°C before fermented using indigenous yeast. A combination of occasional plunging and pump overs. After a natural malolactic fermentation and 9 months maturation in new and old French oak barriques the wine was blended, filtered and bottled.
