2022 Limited Release Merricks Shiraz Viognier

2022 Limited Release Merricks Shiraz Viognier
Made with fruit from our friends Ruth and George Mihaly’s Paradigm Hill vineyard, this wine is beautiful example of a cool climate Shiraz with plum skin, cranberry sauce and savoury cigar box notes on the nose. The Viognier provides a floral lift of violets and rosehip. On the palate, welcome characters of luscious cassis invite you in, with white pepper and spice to finish. The tannins are chewy and give structure and drive to this elegant wine.

Other Notes
The 2022 season started with a very wet and variable spring, resulting in poor flowering and consequently reduced yields across most sites. However, the dry summer months to follow provided perfect ripening conditions that generated concentration and striking flavours across all varieties.

A classic combination of Shiraz, co-fermented with a sprinkling of Viognier has once again delivered a versatile and moorish wine.
